What a day….I tell ya….don't know if/when it's going to end….Jack totally STOLE my verse today!! Together we pretty much wore it out. (in case you've forgotten: Philippians 4:6)
Jack's been struggling since his knee replacement surgery February 14th, with nausea. It seemed to get worse last Saturday, and acted more like a flu bug, getting a little bit worse each day. This morning, he woke up and started the day off with the not so pleasant "D". After his 8th trip to the bathroom, and with me planning to head to Seattle tomorrow to meet with a Naturopathic Oncology specialist, I said: "We're making a trip to urgent care!" We left the house at 2:00 P.M. and got back to the house at 11:00 P.M. Yuppers! 9 hours playing the waiting game AGAIN and wearing out our favorite "P" word for the umpteenth time in the last 2.5 months! I'm trying to stay positive, and reminding myself that it's never so bad it can't be worse. And then we walked into the ER!! YIKES!! Now, THAT is a scary place to be! Totally and completely out of my comfort zone! I think my hands are cracked and bleeding from all the washing/sanitizing I did in those 6 LONG hours! Blessings on everyone of those angels who work there. They deserve so much more praise and cash than they are getting.
So…after the urgent care doctor told Jack he had very low sodium and is anemic, he sent us to ER (on the other end of Spokane-where we've spent much of our time in the past few months) for more tests. We sat for 2.5 hrs in the waiting room, 3 hrs in the room getting "juiced" with IV's, and then a CT scan of his belly/guts. (we were told several suspected possibilities…the worst being a hole in his belly/bleeding ulcer/and or C-diff), then we were told he would have to spend the night. We waited for blood tests results, (c-diff won't be done until tomorrow/preliminary, and 72 hours for final) then more blood was drawn when the IV was finished. After waiting what seemed an eternity for those results, the doctor came in and gave us the best news of the day: We're sending you home-everything looks good, just irritated from all the pain meds/surgery trauma, etc. PRAISE THE LORD! We left the hospital at 10:00, stopped at Walgreen's and picked up MORE pills:P and got home at 11:00!
Obviously I'm cancelling my appt. tomorrow-going to see if it would be possible to do it on the phone. Anyway…In between the ER check in/blood pressure check and computer code in and getting to the room for the IV, I ran home (just my 4th-30 min. trip today) to take the chicken out of the oven-that I had forgotten when we left for Urgent care:P) PRAISE GOD, again….the two organic birds were not charred black! And, neither was the house! I had a message on the machine from Dr. Lamoreaux-he wants to do the full breast radiation on me-:(…so….guess I'll be making 30+ trips for 30+ minutes at about $30 per 3 trips. But…on the bright side…my car knows the way!
Check in tomorrow….for the REST….of the story! (oh yes…there's more!)
Nighty night, my BB….sweet dreams to you all….GG
