Day 10

  "This is the Day that the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" Psalm 118:24

February 3, 2012 + Children + Grandchildren + New puppy + "Cleaning lady-Jen" + FANTASTIC news from Cristi & Pastor Helen = A FANTABULOUS DAY!

I got a phone call from dear friend, Barb, last evening with wonderful news about their daughter, Cristi. She battled a rare bone cancer around 6 years ago, had a stem cell transplant, 5 years ago in November, and after her recent 6 month check, had perfect numbers!! Praise GOD! Cristi was our babysitter for many years-started when she was 10 years old-caring for Kyle at 5, Curtis at 3, and Jill, a baby. That, alone, tells you what an amazing young woman she is! She is a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mom, teacher, and cancer survivor! Way to Go CRISTI!!

Another joyous announcement: Pastor Helen, one of my faithful prayer warriors, welcomed her very first grandchild yesterday, a sweet little girl. I know for a fact that her heart over-floweth, and will never be the same again! Congratulations, Helen and family!

Obvious other exciting news for me is that my kids are here for a visit! The "Skannons" (aka Curtis, Jen, and the kids) arrived yesterday. I've been pampered, spoiled and hugged continually since their arrival! Thank you Skannons! Knitting 101 went well; but I expected it to, with Hannah as the student. She's amazingly gifted and most anything she touches becomes a masterpiece. (this is NOT just a braggy Nana, either) She just started her second project in less than 12 hours!

Kyle and Kelli will be pulling in around 2:00, and Jill, Ryan, and Tatum are coming after work with all the fixin's for pizza! Should be a grand time tonight at the Gannon house! I believe there is nothing treasured more by a Nana and Papa, than family gatherings. Sweet memories shall be made, thousands of hugs will be shared, and good times will be had….we are blessed beyond belief!

I shared a silly facebook game this morning, and want to share the list of words posted by friends-'one word to describe their day':

Slow
Happy
Dreary
Friday!
Resting
                                                      <<<<<<<<Frustrating>>>>>>>>
                                                  <<<<<<<<<Entertaining>>>>>>>>>
Fantastical
Peaceful
Restful
Bored
Cozy
Lazy

Interesting how it basically describes my day thus far, albeit the three red words: the sun is shining, I haven't gotten any knots in my yarn, and I haven't had an opportunity to be bored as of yet! Certainly is a "God-Filled" day!

I suppose I best get back to my knitting-finished Miss Tatum's long overdue slippers (see below), and my scarf, and have begun my prayer shawl. Guess what color? PINK, of course! My prayer is that no woman ever has to travel this journey I've been on, but sadly, statistics show that most likely that prayer won't be answered, not yet, anyway. At least until that cure arrives, my mission (besides shouting from my soapbox to get regular mammograms, exercise daily, get regular mammograms, eat healthy, get regular mammograms, drink healthy, get regular mammograms, no cigs/or too much booze, get regular mammograms, and stay off additional hormones) is to knit as many prayer shawls as I can for my BB's. For those of you who would like to join me, you can check it out at: http://www.shawlministry.com/index.htm ….The blue words in the cross are a fairly good description of how you will feel as you knit a prayer shawl, and you are NEVER the red words! Ok.…maybe frustrated at times…it's important to remember the *3-P's during those times. *Patience, Prayer, Persistance.
