Another beautiful day in the desert sitting on the deck! I've been here since 7:00 doing my daily reading and meditation. Brother Dave and Mardee stopped by on their way on a hike up the mountain; Jack headed to the links, and Mom and Dad sat and visited and had coffee and toast until a bit ago. Dick, our neighbor, stopped by for a quick chat. (He was our hired man on the farm years ago) THE DECK is a special place. Many hours of prayer and meditation, peace and serenity, and coffee and visiting have happened on THE DECK. Last night, after a delicious dinner at Annabelle's celebrating Mom and Dad's 67th Anniversary,
we all came back to sit around the fire, finishing off the night on THE DECK sharing more stories from days gone by and eating dessert-s'mores!
It's been a wonderful time here on THE DECK. In two days we'll be heading back up North and "back to reality", where I'll be switching roles, and Jack will become the patient, and I will be the caregiver. I'm so thankful for our children who will be helping us: Kyle will come the day Jack goes into surgery, and stay until Curtis and Jen come on Friday. I think we'll do just fine! I'm not too worried about having to leave this little piece of paradise up here on top of the world. I just got a sweet reminder of things to look forward to in the cold country:
I am very blessed and very thankful. In case you aren't able to read the sign: "25 Weeks. Baby is the size of a cabbage". Beautiful!
Sunday-2/12
Another great day in the sunshine-only had about 30 minutes on the deck, though. Church, sang with Mom's choir, (more of my prayer warriors) walked to brother Harlan and Barb's for the delicious salmon steak, chicken, and pork chop BBQ. They are great hosts! We enjoyed "christening" their new patio and soaked up lots of sunshine. After sitting around and telling stories for a few hours, I went back and picked up Mom and Dad to drive to the Memorial service of a friend. After an hour of knitting and visiting with Mom and Dad, I'm back at the trailer trying to get packed up and ready to fly home tomorrow. I'm thankful we don't have to leave until around 11:00, so I'll have a couple hours to sit on the deck one last time. It's been such a great four and a half days. I feel rested, refreshed and ready to be home again. Time to get psyched up for the next surgery! I have to say, I'm glad it's not ME, this time.
CALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS!!
Please pray for my sister-in-law, Barb, who is going in tomorrow for an upper GI…she's been having heartburn and discomfort for awhile, and hoping to find out what's causing the problem. Her procedure is at 1:15. Please pray for my hubby, Jack, as he goes in for his complete knee replacement surgery on Tuesday at noon. (not sure the exact time of surgery yet)
I also learned of another newly diagnosed BB. Betsey is the daughter-in-law of my parent's friend who's husband passed away recently. Betsy was diagnosed with bi-lateral breast cancer. Tests showed no cancer anywhere else in her body, and lymph nodes will be tested when they do her surgery. She's a young mom of Ellie, Zach, Courtney, and Hannah.
